Can anyone give a suggestion on either a place that might stock, or a brand name itself for a lift-reverse compatible shift knob for my B&M short-throw shifter? This aluminum knob is scorching me all summer long, and it looks quite stupid when I stick a sock over it to avoid melting my skin off. I'm not even picky; I just don't want anything tacky looking. Black leather or something, preferably a good amount of weight to it...I'm just not having much luck, and I've been out of the "upgrade loop" for a few years.
Any suggestions would rock.
Thanx people,
Aili
The stock knob will work I think.
go to Momo's USA website, they have some, then just buy the similar ones from Ebay.
Razo, and Sparco also has them.
yes the b&m knob does get hot. i keep forgettin to put a sock or glove in my car for that reason. i just swapped over to a the cobalt ss/sc knob. it doesn't screw in but its wedged on there as it doesn't have threads on the inside like the stock knob. i use the stock knob in the winter time as it's way too cold.

get a Momo one. They have specific short-throw b&M style knobs.
And they look good too
I've been lookin for a ball type weighted one but haven't found anything
If you give up the reverse lockout you'll have a lot more options. The B&M short throws have a 12mm thread (think it's 12x1.25).
Yeah, the stock one was disgusting and ratted out from the previous owner, so I nixed that within about 2 hours of purchasing the vehicle. Is there anything I need to physically do (probably a stupid question, but whatever) to override the lift-reverse, or does switching the knob period do that on its own? Momo had some tolerable looking knobs, so I may go that route. I'm picky, I've noticed, but at this point, anything is better than losing sections of skin when it melts to my shifter. (And my sock doesn't match!) lol
Thanx for the help everyone...Now, to find a reputable website to order from...

dude I would also try looking at Razo and Sparco
Especially Razo 'cuz they have some very heavy weighted knobs.
momo has a couple big round mofo's. they're nice too. Their shortshifter ones come with little spring-style sleeves to put on the shifter to fit the knob incase the knob's too big
that's what I had to use for my momo knob. It'll come all in 1 package. screw on the sleeve, screw on the knob, secure the 2 screws and you're done.
only takes 5 minutes.

I highly recommend
Razo's shift knobs. You might like their WR Spec knobs. I have their "Super Low" shift knob(300g weight), and I love it.

i love the twm ones but 100 dollars? the razo looks tha same and is 35 :-), shadow are the razo ones threaded? id like one that screws onto my bnm short shifter
^ they're threaded.
Again, they offer adaptor pieces to make it work, either a rubber boot or metal spring-style thread adaptors
If u need them, u can buy them off Momo's site for a few bucks. Will fit Razos too. I know. I've done it.
Sounds awesome I should be ordering mine in a week or so
Yep, the knob I have came with different sets of nuts. I think one set was for 10mm and the other for 12mm. I really liked how mine is set up because it let me set the height of the knob perfectly.

word... is the install the same as a bm?
CarDomain:

yes as far as i know ive never installed the BM, but i cant imagine its different. But whats nice about teh balt shifter is that it removes the reverse lock-out on the shifter, so you don't need to pull up on it when you want to go in reverse.

nice, wouldnt twm's shifter actually have a shorter throw then the bm? from both websites it says the bm is like 28% reduction were as the twm is around 38%?

Hey,do you have any pics of this shifter? Is it the ss/sc twm or just the regular cobalt shifter?

nick marshall-thats very possible, but i have no experiance with the B&M
02cavcruzin-I could get you some pictures tonight after work and i have the regular balt one

That's an easy fix on the B&M for the Js. All you have to do is knock out the pin that holds the reverse lock-out collar, slide it off, and find a non reverse lock-out
knob. Works good for those that are wanting a different shift knob.
Thats cool ^ But how does the shifter boot fit around it without the lockout? (and why is your boot backwards?)
