Just make the extra effort to keep it smooth.

Good start. Just have to remember to rough up the plastic pieces with some 36 grit before you wrap it in fleece so it will stick. A little trimming and some sanding and your good to go. If you are looking for tips and what not, go to http://www.fiberglassforums.com there is a ton of info on there.

Yeah...... I forgot to do the whole sanding of the plastic thing lol. So im just gonna spread some resin on that area so its smooth. But that spot has been sanded now. The rest of it is stuck real good.

heres a test fit

only thing i would hvae done diffrent is scuff the plastic, and drill some holes in the plastic so the resin seeps thru. and somewhat sandwhiches the fiberglass to the plastic panel. and then made a recessed pod so it sits a bit more flush.

I would have just put the tweeter mount in and gobbed duraglass on

Always tear fiberglass mat, never cut it. It will allow the edges to interlock better.

It me it looks like the glass isnt sticking too well to the plastic. I would pry it off and redo it. Also what are the plastic circles from?

I was trying to pop it off and sand the piece down then resin the area and stick it on again, but i cant seem to get it off so i would say its good. I just dont know what to do about the holes where the screw goes. Any suggestions?

You could get a x-mas tree style push in clip from the parts store, cut out the screw boss on the original piece and glass in the x-mas tree. Then you will be able to install remove them without a screw driver. Or you can just trim out the screw boss and blend it into the fiberglass, thats what I do when I wrap those pieces in carbon.

I think i might just take the x-mas tree clips and put them over the hole i drilled to get to the screw. Im fine with a small push clip. Its getting painted black anyways, shouldn't stand out too much.

A little bondo.

Should be done in a little bit.

whats the hole for?

Re: fiberglass tweeter project

it looks like one of the pods flsres out for the tweeter and the other has the hole flush.

they will hold the tweeter differently thus looking out of place. needs more work before install.
