They fit, just so everyone knows.
Yes I had to roll my fenders... and I haven't hit a big enough bump to know wether or not I need to pull them also... but I'll probably just skip that drama and do some cutting and molding of flares... more fun... more work...
I know they it looks like it's sticking out a lot... but it's just the angle... the tire is stretched so the wheel is out about 5mm from the fender, but the tread of the tires is
just inside the fender... it's very very flush.
Also -- they don't rub at full lock either way. My car is on Tein S-Techs 1.7" drop up front 1.5" in back. I'm upgrading to the Tein Basic Damper kit later this year because I can't stand the monster truck status... though it's much better than stock.
How much clearance do you have on the inside of the rims? what's closest (strut, tie rod)?

better a delay than a disaster.
Maybe a millimeter or two? I can't stick my finger between the wheelwell skin and the tire at full lock either way, but it doesn't rub. I have only driven the car about 6 miles with the new wheels so I can't say if there is absolutely no rubbing, I'm sure it will rub on the fenders in the front if I hit a big enough bump -- I haven't pulled my fenders yet. I probably only need a 1/2" pull and I'll be fine.
I need much stiffer struts.
But to answer your question. I'm not sure of the clearance between the tie-rod or struts, all I know is at full lock it doesn't rub on anything, there's about 3mm between the whel and the strut. Remember my tires are stretched so the wheel is actually what's furthest out, not the sidewall of the tire. I like it that way.
i like it, i bet the back wheels dont look sunk in anymore, can you a picture of how the backs look?
Yeah I'm still out of town so I haven't even really enjoyed my new wheels. I'll get a pic as soon as I get back (I'll be home Sunday morning so I'll probably have pics Sunday evening or Monday morning).
The rear wheels are pretty much flush, I might use a 5mm spacer just to get them super flush, like the fronts, but I don't know I haven't decided yet.
take some front and rear fender pix, not at an angle.

Well... unfortunately two of the wheels were damaged in shipping... and I was waiting on Edgeracing to send me two new ones... however they won't have anymore in stock untill December... so I'm getting Enkei Or52's 18x8.5+35.
I wanted 8.5" wheels because I like the stretched tire look... and no one's done that wide of a wheel on a Cavy... at least not that I've found proof of.
Here are some pics of the rear fitment... it's actually a little bit sunk and there's about an inch between the strut and the wheel... when I get my next set of wheels I'm definitely doing at least a 9" +35 in back.
And a pic of the wheel/strut clearance... the tire itself is about an inch under the bottom spring perch.
^^^Whoaaa, Id be scared of how close that is to the strut..

looks awesome. I like the flik wheels very nice looking wheel for a very nice looking price.
Seeing as 8.5s seem to be ok I may try 8" wide for my next set of rims. Should be able to get some nice wide tires for autox that way
.
What width are those tires?
-Chris
225/40-18's.
You can do 225's on a 7.5 or an 8 with no problems -- they're square -- but I like the stretched look, hence fat wheels.
That looks sick think I can get the same look with a 18x8.5+38 looking at the
Kmc dimes
Actually a few people are running 9" inch wheels on here and my buddy runs 8.5" I run 8" not a fan of the stretch tire look but it looks pretty good.
i had 18x10s on my droptop .. needed to raise her a bit to be drivable and more fender roll but then again im as low as it gets with ground controls or i was.
