I plan on getting 2 17x8 trak lite rims for the drag strip but having trouble finding a good set of slicks. Want to run a 225/45/17 tire or something in that range. Any suggestions

from what I have heard, the 17*8's are either on on back order or getting discontinued, that is at least for the last year that I have been trying to get them, ended up getting the 7 inch ones
sorry don't know about slicks
thanks for the heads up, is their anything else that comes close to the weight with 17x8 style of the trak lites?

correct me if im wrong, but 17 seems big for a slick rim... dunno most people use like 14 or 15s i thought
i got 14" for my drag radials. ^^ i agree that 17" seems to be a bit big for a slick rim. take more to turn that rim rather than a 14 or 15
Maybe he has big brakes and thats all he can run?????

that could be a possibility, but if he doesnt then that is a big diameter rim for slicks...... if all he can run is 17s then ok thats fine
True.

slicks that large don't exist.
13, 14, 15, or at the max 16, and thats pushing it.
time for smaller wheels.
u could always trade me ur big brake kit and ill give u my stock brakes and a set of 14 rims and useless tires taking up room in my garage...
then u can get osme 14" slicks for them....
but pj is right...slicks arent made in 17s from what im finding...drag radials they do make in just about anything u just have to find someone that is still carrying them...

tirerack.com has several different drag radials for 17 inch wheels and some arent too far looking from a slick.
you may have better luck just spacing out a 16" until it fits.. you can find slicks that will fit a 16" rim
and 16s are a bit more forgiving, because most of them come in 8" wide, which most slicks like a wider rim.. 7" is just a bit too narrow.
