not really. that size is more expensive and you wouldnt really feel much handling gain. if you need new tires that bad, it wouldnt hurt to ask the tire store the price difference tho

$25 difference per tire between the 205/55/16 and 225/50/16? That seems like too much. I just checked a half-dozen different brands/models on DiscountTire.com and the difference between sizes for the same brand and model tire ranged from $2 and $10. - Mark

how do these fit on lowered cars

My car is lowered 1.5" and they fit fine. I have some pictures comparing them with the 195/65/15's the car came with that I'll see if I can get together someday.

The tires I ended up with are Aurora H107's that I bought from this eBay vendor:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__4-225-50-16-Aurora-H107-New-Tires-FREE-SHIPPING_W0QQitemZ250343696092QQadiZ2865QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20Acce ssoriesQQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item250343696092&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A543%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I paid $36 locally to get them mounted and balanced, so I have less than $350 total in them. They're a competent budget tire with good grip and wear, easily better than my car's suspension is capable of utilizing. Not the ultimate by any means, but not disappointing either. (I'd buy them again.) Your method may vary. - Mark

I have 215/45/17's on my car lowered on sportlines..I don't rub.

Considering 225's are like, a centimeter more tread, I think you'll be fine
