I am looking at a tire/rim package that a person is selling an am wondering if it will work with my car.
Currently I have an 03 alero with 225/50/16 tires
The tires/rims for sale are 225/60/16
Other then a 7.4% speed issue what problems would I run into? Or will these tire just not work?
I like the rims but can not justify the cost if the tires will not work.
Thanks,
While the tire width should be fine as it does not change, you might not be able to accommodate the extra height. That difference works out to 0.9" more radius -- in other words, you can inspect your current tire and check whether you could fit nearly a full inch of extra tire height while the wheels are straight, or turned full lock as well. I think it probably won't work.

that will make the tires about 1.5 inches taller(rough guess) most cars dont have room for that. But stick ur hand in there and see what kind of clearance you have. they will also be a little bit wider. Good luck.
Wait a minute.... wont those tires just be a little narrower.... not taller?
I thought 225 was the height--- 60 is a ratio (sidewall 60% as tall as tire width) ---- and 16 is the size wheel it goes on.

225 is the width of the tire (225mm)
60 is the height of the side wall (60% of 225mm)
16 is the rim size
OK thanxs.... at least I was close
