i just bought a set of 17X7" velox pg5s rims, they are advertised on their website to weigh in at 12.5 lbs each.
so i took one of my new rims down to fed ex to get an exact weight and they came up 14.0 lbs.
called velox about it and they said that it weighs a tad more than the advertised 12.5lbs because i got the 5X100 pattern rims. i guess the advertised weight of 12.5 is for a 4 lug bolt pattern. they explained the 5X100 needs a little more 'beef' for the extra weight they need to support seeing as how most 5X100 cars weigh more than the 4 lug vehicles. -this is what THEY said. i think its BS.
if you look on motegi's website for their tracklite wheels you can see that the 4X100 rims are actually .4 lbs HEAVIER than their 5X100 counterparts. so why the same wouldn't coralate over to a velox wheel is beyond me.
sure its only 6 lbs extra total for all 4 corners than i expected but i feel like i got ripped off. when your buying something for the light weight feature of it and spending a huge amount of money you want it to be as light as possible.
/end rant
Wanting a nice set of black 17's with mint tires? Pm me.
lol that doesnt sound right. if its forged it doesnt need to be beefed up lol. also they fed you crap on it weights more because its 5 lug not 4. well technically your removing more of the wheel for a 5 lug so the 5 lug should weigh less then the 4 lug like motegi shows their traklites
i just looked on wheel weights and they call them out to be a 12.5lb rim

the fedex scale might be off. id try something different.
Take the centercaps off if you're worried about that little bit.
i dint know velox had wheels that light lol. does any one make a 17x7 that weights under 13 lbs ??? never heard of it
I would be upset you considering you shelled out over $1300 bucks for them. By the way Brad asked how recently the scale used was calibrated and he was told it was done about a week ago. If that is true the scale would not be off by more than .05 or in other words five one hundreths of a pound.
Joe that was without the centercap on. LOL

well im just saying i can see fedex uping the scale so they can charge customers more saying the package weights more than it really does
well it doesnt matter anyways... i weighed a stock 95-99 z wheel at the same time, it came up 17.30. so the new 17" wheel is actually 3.30 lbs LIGHTER than a stock 16"
the wheels/tires i have been using weigh 43.6 lbs so im thinking im gonna have one hell of a gain.
