Wheel spacers
Sunday, March 09, 2008 8:22 PM
I am doign some major body work and without giving it completely away I need some wheel spacers....
How wide can I go on factory studs? I dont need much I have seen 3mm 5mm? Any input on how much i can go before needing the kind that bolt on with new studs?

What kind of rims?

I'm thinking you can get away with 5mm, provided the spacer doesn't put all the wheel weight on the studs (i.e. it acts as an oversized / flat hub-centric ring).

The only thing you have to keep in mind is that your suspension geometry will be way off, so this will be strictly a 'show' type of dealie.

If you're only looking to go small, like 5mm, you can stick with the stock studs. However, if you need a significant spacing, you need the ones that bolt to your lugs, then have a second set of lugs on the spacer. They are just like the bolt pattern adapters, but they have the same bolt pattern. You can get them up to 60mm IIRC. However, I'm not sure how much I would trust them, depending on your driving style.
