OK these tires will be used for:
1. Fun runs on the twisties.
2. My hopefuly soon to be summer rims
3. Must have strong sidewall
4. Sticky icky
5. NO more expensive then say...130 a tire.
My two main choices are:
205/50/15 Falken Azenis RT-615
and
225/50/15 Yokohama AVS-es100
autocrossers...which tire would you run?
225/50/15 Yokohama AVS-ES100 Easy choice for me. I think that the Azenis in small sizes doesn't push that much water out when driving in the rain. Just my 2 cents.
thats a big sidewall for a tire meant for cornering. But I would say for auto X the Azenis are the way to go, I looked into it for a while and ended up with the Azenis as my choice. Also the 615's are a new design, they take the input people gave them on the 215' and applied it in the design of the 615's, one f the big changes made was hugely improved wet weather traction over the 215's.
personally i love the bfg traction t/a... there nice and stiff and really sticky.... just my $.02
BAD EXPERIENCE WITH YoKO. ill never buy another one...
check out BFG g-force. i believe they come in that size. (amazing tires) esp for the price.
BFG tractions are alright... they lose traction a lot around tight turns or you can feel some sliding.
also, check out hydro-edges (michelin) very good all around tire, sticky(ish) and great for cornering wet or dry. (plus the 90K mile warranty)
No experience with the Falkens, but I had good luck with the AVS's. Crappy life out of them, but they were sticky enough for the price.

I think ill be going w/ the advans....the azenis are what i really want but i dont want to put a 205/50 on the car just to get them. that and after careful research the 225/50 advans will fit perfectally on the 15x7 inch rim and be closer to the stock gearing of the car then the falkens would be.
ZlineDavid...how many miles did you get out of them?
If I remember right...maybe 20K.
