I have a stock, base edition 03 cavalier ecotec and I would like to get some black rims.. What size should i get and what offset?? I'm new to all this is this would be my first set of rims. I have stock suspension and I would like to fill up my wheel wells.. I dont want super low pro tires but i would like them pretty small.. (don't want ot feel every bump) Also I don't want my car to sit really high off the ground and I can't efford lowering right now. What size do I need?

first off.... check the FAQ at the top of the Wheel/Tire forum for the majority of your answers.

Next, which ever size wheel you get, the wheel gap will not disappear. When properly matched, you new rim and selected tire will be the same "height" roughly as your stock wheel. It might be hard to imagine right now but if you have a stock 14" or 15" rim a new rim in 17", 18" or 19" should be roughly the same height as the stock with a properly sized set of rubber. This is to avoid direct impact on speedometer read outs, gas mileage, etc. You can however get a slightly larger side wall if you want but it is not recommended because your speedometer will be way of of what it reads.

So, if you want to do it properly, any rim you select will not "lower" your car or "fill" the wheel gap in which it seems you want to do. To achieve this, you need to get the right rim and rubber combination and lower the car. My suggestion is to lower the car first then get rims. If you really want the rims you will have to deal with the fender gap which seems larger when you go with after market wheels due to the fact that you see more rim and less tire.

Basically check the FAQ for proper tire/rim matching with your current stock rim size to get the least effect on your speedo and take it from there.

^^ he's right, plus 4x4 cav's with huge wheels look @!#$ty IMO. why not forget the wheels for now and go prokit and agx's?? that will fill up the wheel wells somewhat and cost about the same as large wheel tire package
