Wheel Polish(Need some help)
Sunday, October 14, 2007 2:11 PM
I just purchased a can of Eagle One Nano Polish for Mag, Chrome and Aluminum Wheels. I thought this would be perfect for my Konig Unknowns but now I'm having second thoughts. Could someone tell me if this is safe for my wheels or if there's a better polish out there that I should use. I purchased my wheels brand new about three months ago so I'm more worried about protecting them than filling in scratches.

Bump...Anyone got any suggestions? I'm pretty sure the Nano-Polish is safe on my wheels but if I'm wrong, please tell me. What I really need to know is should I use another wax or polish to add protection or will the polish be enough?

To be honest the polish should be fine. The #1 reason that rim's clearcoat mess up is not keeping them clean. The polish will add some protection I would think from fading if you keep up with them, but keeping the brake dust and anything eles you pick up like tar and such is the main thing. If you keep them on in the winter I would make sure to wash them a great deal to try to keep dirt/salt out of the bead of the tire. Just remember to clean the rims with warm/hot water with just car soap and rinse good after. The wheel cleaning stuff is the only thing I would worry about messing with the rims.

Thanks for the advice, that's exactly what I needed to know but one more thing...does hot/warm water make a significant difference? I've seen it mentioned numerous times but I don't really understand why it's so much better than cold.

ding ding ding.... That is the reason right there. I guess you never washed dishes by hand cause the warmer/hotter the water is the easier it is to clean the dishes. I say use water that is warm but not to hot cause you are using your hands to wash them. Also remember never to put the rag/mat you are using on the ground. That is the the rookie mistake most do that pick up some rock the mess it all up.
