quick question on offset
Sunday, August 26, 2007 8:08 AM
im about to order wheels, and the wheels i want have two offset options 35 and 42. I dont know too much about offset but im assuming 42 would be closer to stock correct? Also tire size should be 225/45-17 right?
Here are the wheels if it matters

Stock offset, I believe, is 47 so 42 will be closer. As far as tire size, this calculator is your best friend...

...Yes, 225/45/17 is closest to stock in most cases. 215/45/17 is almost as close and gives a more low profile look than the 225. Those two are the most common on Cavs so you can't go wrong with either of 'em.

The 35 would probably be fine on a 7" width. However, the 42 would put the rims inside the wheel wells better if you're worried about rubbing.
Personally, I hate the fact that the rears are in further than the fronts, so I'd be ordering the 35's for the rear and the 42's for the front. Just makes rotating a little more difficult.

BTW, if you get your rims and tires from discounttiredirect, and you get directonal tires, make sure to remind them that you need two for each direction. I got mine with three mounted for the right side, and one mounted for the left. They offered to swap it, but wouldn't pay the freight both ways, so I just had it done locally.
