HOw much will my speedo be off with a 205/40/16?
Thanks andrew, it seems that it will be down 5 mph...hmm...should I Do it lol
dude thats almost 10% smaller. im pretty sure your abs module will have a nervous break down if you put that size on there.

I am fairly sure this size is not even made.... and if it is it is very rare.

i thought the same thing too because it didnt even come up on the tire caculator but tirerack has them
YEa everywhere I've looked has them and they came up on the calculator I used.
I had a Focus come into work today with 205/50R16's and those were very low profile, 205/40R16 would be barely any tire at all. Not worth it if they do make them.

am using 205/45/16/ with potenza tires.they're right. you're almost 5mph out but looks nice.try federal with 45/16, looks lowered, doesn't look thick unlike sumitomo and others.but federal sucks when it comes to grip.don't try 40/16, we have a BIG fender well so your wheel will REALLY look small. then try eibach pro-kit.with 45/16,it just sits right.
it's ok to use 45/16 IF you don't DRAG/RACE....

who the hell told you that?

if you use 45/16, you'll lose around 2-3mph, doesn't matter if you're just cruisin around with your sick cavy, but if 2-3mph matters to you and you're using digital tach, well i suppose you should put on the correct tire size.actually dragsters really use drag tires, some even use 50s. i use to have civic and using 50/15.
I dont need lowering springs my car is bagged.
205/45R16 and 205/40R16 would cause a few things to go wrong:
1 - they would look waayyy too small (and in my opinion make the car look stupid)
2 - being too small they will put your speedo out, your revs will be higher, and your odometer would clock faster showing that your car has more mileage on it than it really does
3 - that size of tire will more than likely not be able to support the weight of a cavalier or sunfire properly. the required pressure that you would need to run that size would more than likely exceed the maximum pressure that the small tires are capable of.
just get the right size, its much easier

it will look good bagged like that. now you know those + 's and - 's. its all up to you now.
I have 205/50/16s and they look too small in the back... if it's bagged, that probably won't be a problem, and if you don't care about the odometer issue...
whatever you do, it's your car, and you have to live with the consequences of what you do, good or bad...
