17" w/ lip - need opinions
Friday, April 27, 2007 7:24 AM
hey guys, some of you may have seen my other post, but i'm looking for some wheels for this summer...basically just something to get my by for now. someone on JBO has 17"s and tires for a pretty good deal and im considering them. the only problem i'm finding is that they are 17" with a decent size lip and i'm afraid they're going to look really small. anyone have any examples of cases similar to this? i checked the registry and couldnt really find any decent pictures that gave me a good idea.

im not really wanting to spend a ton which is why im fine with 17"s but with the lip im afraid that they'll look no bigger than my regular LS wheels.

I dont have any pictures, but i know what you mean about looking small. Wheels with a lip always appear to be smaller by about one size it seems. so 17s are going to appear to be 16s. But if you really like the wheel and it is a good price i would go for it.

they wont look bigger than ls wheels even though they are. thats the illusion wheels give off that have a lip and the spokes dont go all the way out

most rims will have that lip. it will look a bit better because the tires will have a smaller profie too.

brian, check the NE section of JBO. Chris Foresta is selling some 17's w/o tires that look pretty descent. If you want em, send him an offer. I gave him one since i'm lookin for something for my pt cruiser.

What color are you looking for? If you want something with a decent lip ... here you go ...

They are the Tenzo GF7 5x114/100 offset for the 17s and its about 240/wheel

god, i just dont know how you guys with these lips are fitting these tires on J's... mine dont have a lip really at all and the front tires stick out pretty far. if there was a big lip they would stick out WAY too far. mine are 17X7's

Or you can be dumb like me and run no-lip wheels and too-thin tires. On the upside, they end up looking larger than they are. One guy actually asked me (regarding my 18" MR7s): "What are those, like, 22s?" LOL.

what are you talking about? i ran a 18x7.5" wheel and my tire didnt stick out. its the way the offset is on the wheel that makes the wheel look that way.
