I have 225/45R17's on mine and no issues.
The only difference between the 205 and 215, is the 215 will be slightly taller, wider as well, but also a little bit taller.

try 205/45/16.looks good.put on eibach pro-kit and will sit fine.looks lowered too....
the 215/55's will fit. you shouldnt rub unless your car is that bloody low. personally, i would either go with the original 205/55's or a 225/50.
the 205/55's are better priced and more selection available than the 215/55's. 215/55's dont really fit anything, so i can pretty much garuntee that that size wont be cheap.
the 225/50's are a better fitment than the 215/55's are, but they will just barely fit on your rim. most manufacturers recomend a 7" or 7.5" wide rim for a 225/55, but the 6" wide factory 16" wheels will work as they are the smallest that size can usually go on.

205/50s work well, I don't recommend going any lower than that, though, b/c unless you have really smooth roads where you live, well, 205/40 is pretty low-profile... also, using a tire with a different outside diameter throws stuff off (like your speedometer and odometer) and the bigger the size difference, the bigger the inaccuracy.
