17 inch wheels, what is the best tire size to go with?

I know there is a sticky thread above about what size tires you should go with and the error margin with the bdifferent sizes; but it looks as if all sizes will have a error margin and throw of the speedo in some way.
Is there a size i can put on 17's that will not throw off the speedo, or basically its such a small error margin that you will not notice it.
I just solod my 15's, now i want to upgrade to my first set of 17's, i dont want to low of a side wall, 215/45/17 be good, or is 205/45/17 better
Please help, i need to find rims and rubber soon..
Thanks very much..

225/45R17 will get you closest to stock diameter, smallest you should go is 215/45R17. Try and get a rim with a width of 7.5" but no less than 7" I believe the stock offset on our cars is +42 bolt pattern is 5x100. Also make sure you get hub centering rings discounttiredirect.com sells metal ones for around $12->$16 usually shipped just call and tell em the rim and the car and they give you what you need. 205/45R17 will be WAY to small,

couple places to look for rims and tires.
edgeracing.com (checkout the flik rims good price and great looking)
tirerack.com (typically more expensive, but great service)

Those 2 are very reputable and you can feel safe sending them your money. Edgeracing is always running specials at least once a month on wheel and tire combos, also being the end of march people are going to want to start getting rid of their inventory for the quarter before taxes hit.

Thanks man, actually according to the tire calculator 215/45/17 are closer to the stock diameter then 225.

Get the 225's. They will ride better, and fill the fender well better.

I have 215/45/17's on mine and dropped on Eibach Pro Kit springs, they're close but clear nicely and look good.

Go with the 225s. 215/45/17 is what came on my tC from the factory, and I made the mistake of not switching to the 225s when I bought my Pole Positions. The sizing difference is minimal, but the traction that the extra 10mm will provide is very noticeable.
