went out to northwest tire today to check on a price for rims and tires. I want a set of sportmax rims 18x7.5" with a 42 mm offset. they told me I couldn't fit a 225/40/18, that I would need a 215/40/18, I told them I was lowered on eibach pro kit springs, well that changed the story entirely, they told me then that I couldn't even get into a 40 series that I'd be looking at a 215/35/18. I know plenty of you J owners have 225/40's and dropped way more than me, so by all means they should fit. To top off my story, the said, if you lift your car back up to stock height we could fit 225/40's then! moral of the story, they suck, but am I right?
lol.......
ClassGlass / RkSport / Eibach / Motegi / Ractive / Borla / K&N
should have included, I have 205/55/16's as stock tires!
don't they recommand 225 40 18 for jbody's ? I know everywhere I went in Montreal( Quebec) thats what they told me ... and up here 35 are a headhake with our road.... I have a wheel that is slightly bent cuz of are beautyfull pot holes !
they are idiots tell them what you want and you'll install the wheels yourself
I'm not even gonna bother with them anyways, I'll either go through Discount Tire or Edgeracing.com once I get them on I'll drive out there and be like WHAT? they fit yo lol
LMAO, they suck. I hate how some people think that anything bigger than a 16 inch rim will rub on Cavaliers/Sunfires. I had a friend tell me that a 18 inch rim will require me to raise my car, lol.

yeah lets all just "DONK" out or cavaliers to fit a measly 18" rim on it
I have 225/40/18 on my car....Lowered on sporlines too, no rubbing, not scraping nothing...They are idiots....

I could make 24's fit by raising my car with a 4 inch truck lift kit.
Someone needs to go roll down there with some of the tunner 20's
You are right.
the real reason is, it's not that oyu can't fit them, but the shops that you go to have a guideline that tells them what tires/sizes are meant for what vehicle. There are laws/requirements that the shop can only put those tires on that particular vehicle. I've been to lots of places that say they will not install them on the car, but they will mount/balance/sell me anything that I want. It just covers thier butts when it comes to insurance and safety.
The shop guys aren't idiots, they just have a responsibility for safety...
