99 Cavvy, stock 15 by 6 steelies.

It has the 195/65's on it, but I want to go wider. I want a 215 or 225, I know for sure a 215/60 would work, but a 225/55 is what I want.

There is only a .1" difference in the sidewall heights, but I need to know if it will rub or not. I thought about a 225/60 but it is .3" taller than the stock size.

I ran a search but it didn't answer any questions, so I just thought I would throw this out there and find out the widest i can go on the stock 15 by 6's.

I road around on 225/55-15's and it was fine. Only time it sucked was when it rained. I hydroplaned like crazy. They were a bit worn so that might explain the rain issue, too, aside from the fact that they were wider.

i think a 225/55R15 is what my boss ran on his sunfire a long time ago. he got them for free from a mid-90's 3 series BMW.

now they can be a little hard to find tires in that size because the older 3 series (might have been a 5 series) are all that pretty much ran that size. either way, it will work and the 6" wide steel wheel that comes OEM will be fine for that tire.

good luck finding some

Well, finding tires shouldn't be horrible for me since I work at Goodyear and I can pretty much get any tire that I want.

I just wonder how pricey they are going to be since that size is common on BMW's and stuff. I would like to get this size in a Triple Tread, but I highly doubt those are made in that size for some reason, I should check tomorrow.

I would kind of like to see if maybe some BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDWS would be in that size, which I almost bet there are, they have alot of odd sizes like that.. but that would be pricy, and really a tire like that isn't needed for a bone stock Cavvy. They work great on my Camaro though.
