Pic Request: 16" wheels
Sunday, December 17, 2006 3:02 PM
I'm about ready to get my new wheels and tires (ditching the steelies) and am torn between 17s or 16s. I want to see a few pics of 16s on our cars and make sure they don't look too small.

Here's my Cav on 16s

And an older one with the pre-painted wheels

Hope that helps

Here's mine. Personally I prefer the 16s. On level ground, it looks better. You don't get the 4x4 look that you get with 17s and larger on an un-lowered car. The pic is taken on a hill, so you can't really tell that in the pic, but sitting next to a J with 17s or 18s, mine looks lower.

Go with 17's, you won't regret it.

Next year I plan on hitting the track alot more on the weekends, so I thought 16s would be a good compromise between track performance and road corner handling of 17s. Maybe I'll go with 17s for daily driving and steelies on the weekend with drag radials.

eh, none of the above look very good (no offense), but 16's cant look good without a heavy drop.

are you kidding? no offense, but it looks like i can fit my head between your rear wheel and the quarter panel. as long as you get the right size tires, the wheel gap should stay the same. the only way to get rid of wheel gap is to lower the car.

anywho, i'd say go with 17's.

My car was dropped on sprints, 1.8 front and rear. I would say thats a fairly decent drop. do you want tire tucking drop?

Thanks for the pics. Still undecided, though. I want good track times, but I don't want to buy one set and then decide I should've bought something else. Anybody have some track times with two differnet tire sizes. Like a before and after? Will it make that muck of a difference between 16 or 17s? If it is more than a tenth in the 1/4 my mind could be already made for me.
