I decided to take on the challenge of polishing my 18's over winter and after about 4.5 hours of wet sanding and about 1 hour of polishing with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish this is what I came out with.
Before:
After:
With more polishing they will only get shinier, that was all hand polishing I plan on picking up on of the Mothers polishing balls to finish them up.
Only 3 more to go, wooohooo!
Looks great, but you plan on clearcoating them afterwards? If not gonna be really hard to maintain that finish throughout the summer.
Looks good though
.
The thought had crossed my mind. But i work with a body man and I talked to him about about it and he said if i put a good coat of wax on them every couple weeks and keep them clean (which i do anyways) they should stay pretty shiney. He was the one that told me to get the mothers polishing ball. If i use that and some polish once a month or so he said that it shouldn't be a problem.
But if it turns out to be to much work I am gonna just polish them up real good and have him clear them.
Those look awesome. A lot of hard work I'm sure, but that deffinately looks worth it to me. Now we just need to see them on the car
Yes it was a lot of hard work, they won't be going back on the car now I only got one done, maybe when I get two done I will throw them on and get some pics. But they will not be driven during winter now, salt would be very very bad, and they use a lot of it around here.
Heres a pic on the car before:
Wow...that looks great...Always thought they would look better that way, just too lazy. lol Keep it up though...it'll definately be worth it!
I still haven't replaced them, had some problems with CustomWheel.com but I will get something by summer.

Looks better on the car than off. I'm not a fan of chrome/polished rims unless its on luxury or trucks, but those rims definately look good on your car.

Well Thanks for allt he good comments, they are all done now I am gonna polish them up some more but there probabll won't be any pics of them on the car until winter is over. Because it finally snowed her which means they will be putting salt on the roads and salt does not get along with bare aluminum.
They don't have a real bright smack you in the face shine like chrome, its shiney but more of a dark shine. I think they look grrreat!!!!!
