which tire size for 20's
Friday, September 15, 2006 1:57 AM
I am buying 20" rims for my cavy which is bagged. The rims are 20x7.5 with a 42mm offset. As far as the tires I am not sure wheather to go with 225/35/20 or 215/35/20? I have looked everywhere and cant seem to find any places that carry a 215/35/20 tire. People with 20's and bagged or nayone who knows let me know if I will rub with either series tire? Let me know what I should do and where to look

225/30/20 or if you want the 35 series tire then you need a 205/35/20

Technically, all of the sizes mentioned so far in this thread are too tall. 225/35/R20 is 1.3 inches taller than stock and the 215/35/R20 would be 1.1 inches too big. The closest mentioned is the 225/30/R20, but even it is almost 0.5 inch oversized as well. If available, a 205/30/R20 would come closest to the stock 205/55/R16.

I tried on the 225/30/20's on my car tonight, IT LAYS LOWER than my 19's, and the tire is taller. The 42mm offset and the 225/30/20's WILL FIT PERFECT! I'll have pics tomorrow.

BTW my 19's are 215/35/19 on a 19x8 with a35mm offset.

my cav is lowered 1.5" with eibach pro kit springs, is there any possible way I can fit 20's without modifications? I was told I could with a 225/30/20. If its honestly possible then I'm gonna consider it. Thanks! p.s. if not possible with the drop then I'll swap out the eibachs and put my stock springs in.

I's 1.4, but who's counting?

Should work just fine.

Bagged on 20x7.5's on 225/30/20 Nitto Neo Gen tires, it cay lay out in front and not touch the fenders, and the rear touches the inside fender well, but it is ALOT lower than Eibachs

DO IT!

True, but when you go with huge rims, you need to run over the stock size unless you want to have absolutely zero tire. Look at most of the major rim & tire sites. When you look at the recommended tire sizes, the bigger the rim, the bigger the overall diameter of the tire. This is required to keep some kind of sidewall on them.

He already has em. Yes those 20's fit just fine on my car, your Eibach springs will not go down as far as my bags, so you will be fine. Go over Kyle's after you lower it and try his 20's on, that won't be a problem I'm sure.
