16" Steelies
Sunday, September 24, 2006 8:46 AM
Hi all this is a pretty basic question,to get ready for winter i want to put some 16" steelies on but don't want to pay $59.99 per rim.

What cars that come with 16" rims have the 5X100 bolt pattern for my J

I've already bought the Michlin Ice track tires 205/55/16 but now need the rims

you are better off with smaller rims. Three reasons for that. 1. cheaper wheels 2. cheaper tires 3. a skinnier tire is better in the snow than a wider tire. If you are set on finding 16" wheels, I believe Chevy Corsica rims will fit, also all years of the J-body (correct me if I'm wrong) should fit too. If you search you can probably come up with alloys for inexpensive. If you decide to go with small rims/tires, use this calculator to find out what size tires will keep your speedo correct. Hope this helps.

Pontiac Vibe / Toyota Matrix have 16" steelies in our bolt pattern. Also the latest Honda Civics have 16" steelies in 5x100.

Centerbore is different though, I think. You'll probably need hub rings.

For anyone that has upgraded their brakes, the 14's and 15's won't fit anymore.
Not sure if this is why he wants them, but it's something to consider.

Well thanks for that info

but like i've said i already bought the tires and im now on the look

I thought of using my stock 16 rims on my cavy for the winter but thought if i hit that curb there goes my rims.

I guess theres a pretty penny for some 2000-02 Z24 rims

so that corsica would fit

J's are 5x100 right

I know that the VW new beetle steelies are the same bolt pattern.

If you do have an issue having to replace a rim for a curbing, you can usually find one fairly cheap used.

I had a set of 00-02 Z24 rims a few years back, and I had purchased them individually used. I got most of them for like $25-35 each, and I think the most expensive was like $60. Single rims tend to go cheap on eBay.

Smaller hub bore, and with steelies, there's really nothing you can do.
I had PT Cruiser aluminum rims on my car a few years ago, and I had to have them bored out a tad to fit.
