I'm looking at these for my new BSA 17" rims in 225/45/17. Has anyone had any experience with these?
Good/bad... etc.
Don
Forgot to mention the BSA's are black/machined lip. 7" wide with 40mm offset.
Thanks.
Don
stay away from those tires. I bought them because they were cheap tires wore out in l,500 miles/one month had a weird wear on it. had the tires balanced rotated etc.. Had another person i heard of had the same problem. Ended up having to get a new set of tires 2 months later.

They look cool though haha. But yeah they suck. Get 711's or 712's.
when i got them they just came out. Talk about taking a chance on a tire.

I thought they looked ok, and with a treadwear of 400 should last a while. I'll look at another tire, thanks for the help.
Don
Oh also the finish on BSA's isn't that good, my friend had some for about a year and he had some fading and cracking in the paint.
For what I paid on the BSA's, i'll take my chances. I only have $265 in them new in the box, so if i have to repaint the black area, it's not a problem. I'm more concerned about the tires at this point, those Khumo's
looked pretty good but now i'm back to looking at more options. I'd like something that at least has a treadwear of 400+, and isn't $150 a tire. My '03 Cav is my daily driver, so Z ratings and auto-cross type stick isn't high on my priority list. Thankx for the input.

They are very sticky.. very nice tires imo.
Jake,
Do you know someone who has them? I posted on another site and got very good feedback on the Khumo AST's, but some of the guys here said they had problems. Something like they wore out in 1500 miles or a couple of months. Only time i've heard of anything like that is when there were suspension problems.
Thankx
Don
my suspension is in good shape still the same set up on Kumho Ecsta 712 and do not have the problems i had with the AST. I have seen a few places online where people had the same problem. As i stated i had the tires balance tire rotated and also had my car aligned and recheck twice after and still had that problem. So how come same set up no problems with my Kumho Ecsta 712's? I keep my suspension in good shape. I have ground control, Koni reds, rear sway bar etc.. I make sure my tires are always properly inflated.I Had Kumho 712's on the rims before and not problems. So the only factor was the tires not the car.

No offense meant ajose, i'm still looking around at various tires for my '03 Cavi. I did some more searching on those last night, and it seems that several people had problems with the early batches of the AST's. The positive posts are all from the last 6 months, so maybe they changed or upgraded the tire later on? Just for curiosity, when did you have them? Right now i'm looking at some Continental's, but they are more expensive of course. My current stock replacment 14" tires are in good shape, with only about 15K on them so i'm not in a hurry. It would be nice to get the 17" on, and then lower it a couple of inches. I'm also looking at the Koni yellows and eibach springs, my wallett isn't fat right now so i'm waiting. lol
Thanks
Don
No offense taken. I was one who posted on Tire rack. I got my tirs the week they came out i took a gamble with those tires seeing no one had tried them. I did call Kumho about it, may be that prompted a change. I called Tirerack and complained and got half price on my Kumho Ecsta 712's so i am not complaining. I was mad that these tires only lasted just over a month. But even if there good now i have been burned so i am not likely to try them again.

I understand that, i got burned in the late '70's when the Firestone Radial 711's came out. I had good luck with the previous set of Firestone's i had and gambled with the NEW IMPROVED model. Boy did i regret that as they became known as "the exploding tires" and promped several lawsuits. Firestone did eventually help me some after i griped and sited the lawsuits, paid 1/2 price on a set of Mitchlen "X" tires for my Monte Carlo.
I have some Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's on my wife's buick, wish they made them in 225/45/17. Or a reasonable Michlen in that size.
Thanks.
Don
I say get Kunho 711's... I have been happy with serveral sets of them. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants good rubber for a good price.
