I wouldnt mind doing it to a set of 95-99 Z wheels, make them perhaps a 16x7or7.5 or even a 16x8 if possible but steelies I wouldn't.
Why, steelies are already heavy? Do it with an aluminum rim.

Yeah widened steelies is really popular with the euro guys (90's golfs etc.) It's pretty cool to see a 205/50-15 stretched on a 15x8 steel wheel. It's just a euro look... It's kind of difficult though, cutting and welding... more work than I'd want to do. Just buy a set that are already made.
im talkin to the euro guys and they say theres a shop in NJ thatll do it for me, im trying to find out were it is and if hes got a site, but first i have to find were i can get those tires!

well for a j-body you'd want like a 225/55-15... something along those lines... and you'd probably need to run a spacer because the offset on a steel wheel is HIGH.
It's funny I had a 97 Golf in my shop yesterday and it had 15x8.5 widened steelies with 205/50-15's on it, it was really clean. He was running bolt-on 15mm spacers with flares.
my boss ran 225/55R15's on his sunfire when he had it. they came of an old BMW. the tires are all but extinct now, so good luke finding that size at a decent price.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
thanks for the help, i might be some widen steelies from a euro tuner friend, hopefully i can get some tires for it, they say there stretched over them, you got some pics of your bosses fire?

They make tires in a 225/55-15 they're just hard to find.
If you really wanted I could hook you up with a set for cheap through our distributor if you wanted.
if you try to widen a alum wheel its gonna be costly to have it welded cuz not many shops do alum. welding , if u just want that look cut the welds on the steel wheels and move the center section (lug area) inward itll give it that "deep dish" look or find some old cragar SS wheels and use the rim area and weld that to ur stock center section
