Before i get slammed.. Yes i have searched about this
Here's my question/problem
i ordered a wheel and tire package from Wheelguyz they told me i needed a 215 35 18. i told them the correct size should be a 225 40 18
then they tell me that a 215 35 is the EXACT size i need because a 225 40 would rub everywhere
i also checked a tire size calculater and found that a 215 35 is a 4.25% difference and could cause brake failure
Wheelguyz said they would swap the tires out before they ship them, but they still say they will rub.
So, i know alot of j owners on here have the 225 40 18, has anyone had any trouble with rubbing?
if it matters, i have Eibach Sportlines
i would rather go with the 225 40s to fill in the fender gap and get a little smoother ride but i dont want issues with rubbing
any help will be GREATLY appreciated as i have to give them an answer first thing Monday morning
Thanks
i never had any problems with mine when i had them. i had 225/40/18
i even had 225/ 35/19
and 225/30/20..... nice but serious harsh ride
now im just rolling stock steelies, i kept getting flats so i got rid of them
I got 225/40/18 and they're fine.
i clock up 700 km a week on my 225 40 18's and it rides fine and never rubs
well whats the offset on the rim? it may rub dependin' on the offset
Odd I've never had a problem with my 225/40R18's and my car is dropped 2 inches. Never rubbed not even once.

thats because you have the correct offset. if its a real low offset, its gonna rub the fenders
225/40/18 here on eibach pro-kit, No rubbing issues here
im not 100% sure on the offset, but the wheels are katana kr-7 18X7.5
i think he said the offset was 50, does that sound right? whatever the offset is, he assured me it was the correct one for my car
not real sure on this one, kinda confused
50 will more than likely not work. i would double check and make sure
I'd order them from someplace who knew what the hell they were doing if I were you.

ok
the offset is +45,
the rim is 7.5" wide
will these fit without rubbing and can i run a 225 40 18 with this offset?
Yep, should be fine.
I get slight rubbing on one side in the back but I'm running the equivilent of around a +40 offset. My brake kit increases the track a little.
You'll be fine.
thanx a whole bunch guys.
so i guess i gotta wear out the 215 35 18s so i can get the right tires
they should be here tommorrow or the next day
