I put my new 18's on the fire yesterday with 225/40, and I have a nasty shake at 80km/h and over. So today I drove to Toronto to get a set of hub-centric rings, installed them and although the shake is a little less, it's still rather bad. I've also noticed that all 4 rims have 1oz of weight on them, that seems rather odd to me, I've never seen the same weight on all 4 before!
Anybody with any thoughts?
tire could need to be balanced. also the lugs may not be seated right
Get them re-balanced, and tell them you want a dynamic balance, but with sticky weights.
The balance consists of clip on weights on the inside lip, and sticky weights which should be hidden behind the spokes of the wheel. It's the best balance you can get, without having the ugly ass weights in the outside lip.
And make sure they do it, they may just try to static balance them and think you won't even look.

Exactly the same problem i had. I got my wheel and tire package from WheelsNext, and they were supose to come pre balanced and all that.
It shook like crazy over 50 MPH, so me thinking they were already balanced i went and tried every other remedy. Then my friend told me to get them rebalanced, and in some spots they were 4.75 off!
It was ridiculous. Re - Balanced them definitely! Then see if the problem is still there ...
Yes that's where mine came from, and yes I tries every other remedy as well, so I took them in today and had to re-balanced and they were all off, as much as 3.75oz. Needless to say WheelsNext will be receiving a not so polite phone call from me, and I better be getting my $69 bucks back that I just spent for the re-balance.
