Okay, some friends and I were having this discussion, and we can't seem to agree on this. Our stock 16 wheels have a 6" width and a 42mm offset, right? If a 16x6.5" rim is used, and it has a 40mm offset, will it sit more flush with the fenders for a wider stance, or will it fit the same as the stock wheel?
im running a 17x7 with a 40mm offset. its perfect.
i have no rubbage. coilovers are all the way down.

you're going with a wider rim, and the offset is larger, putting the rim more towards the outside of the car.

your right on it being more out but the higher the offset the most inward the wheel sits and the lower the number the farther out it is
anything from a 35-48 would work but typically you want like a 38-45

yeah, I meant that the lower number meant a larger distance away from the suspension. sorry about that.

Anyone know off hand around what offset on a 17x7 rim is needed to flush the rear fender? And would the front then stick out with the same offset?
the front fender lip sits out farther then the rear lip.
I have an '03 LS Sport and maybe the ground effects are misleading, but with the factory 16" wheels, the rear wheels seem more tucked in than the front. The front actually look good where they are. The rear bothers me a bit. That's what my question above was reffering to. I was going to guess a 17x7 +40mm offset would look good?

I thought the same thing about the LS. My rims are 17x7 with a 42mm offset and the front's are flush with the outside of the fenders while the rears just barely tuck. It's pretty obvious when looking close up.

there are two options 17x7 with a 40mm offset, and 17x7 with a 48mm offset?
Yes, they should fit with stock height. +48mm offset means they'll stick in more towards the car than the +40mm offset. I'm not sure if you'd have any rubbing issues if you lower the car or not, but I myself, am looking for a more aggressive stance like the +40mm offset. Just personal preference.
