locking wheel nuts

Hey, just bought a set of rims. buddy gave me the lug nuts but one was missing. i wasn't too worried about it cause i wanted to put some locking nuts on them so somebody doesn't take off with them.

anyways i was just wondering if these locking lug nuts actually "lock" like a padlock, where there is a lock and unique key. so far the ones i have looked at all look the same, so how does that prevent somebody from ripping them off? thanks.

Most locking lugnuts have similar appearing keys, but the actual pattern inside them is different.

thats good. thats the answer i was looking for.

do you know of any good sites that have some for an awesome price? preferably a canadian site, so shipping would be less. i checked at canadian tire this afternoon and they wanted $45 CDN for a Mcgard set.

^^^Thats a good price for McGard. I paid $38 USD for my MCGard set. The set I bought has four regular lugnuts and one "lock" lugnut for each wheel. McGards are the best IMO.
