That I can't find an awnser too. Stock tires on my car are 205/55R16. If the with were go to 225, the correct aspect ratio world be 50. Now what I can't find is if I want to go to a 215 tire with, what would the aspect ratio be if I wanted the speedo correct? 55 or 50? Thanks,
Bluecavi!

A 215/50/16 is going to be about .4" to short and the 215/55/16 is about .3" to tall. The choice is yours but the 215/55/16 has a lot more choices.

Best answer is... don't go with 215's. If you're going wider, go with the 225's. Problem solved.

I have 215/50/16(Kumho Supra Ecsta 712) on my stock wheels. I didn't want the overall height of the tire/rim combo to get any larger than with the stock Goodyear RSA 205/55/16. As long as you get stickier-than-stock tires, you'll be fine. Hankook Ventus HRII H405, BFGoodrich G-Force Sport, Kumho Supra Ecsta 712 - all reasonably priced performance tires that are offered in 215/50/16.

^^ They BFG g force sport does not come in 215/50/16. Also Hankook and Kumho tires are junk, I would buy used tires from bfg, nitto, yoko, ect before I would buy new hankook's or kumho's. Tirerack shows 7 tires in 215/50/16 and 98 in 215/55/16 But I agree with WW, I wouldn't run either sizes. Why do you not want to use a 225/50?

My bad, I thought the BFG's came in 215/50/16., apologies to Bluecavi for inaccurate info. I understand you have a negative opinion on Hankook and Kumho, but I think the Kumhos I have on are great for my style of driving(I would never buy a used street tire, that's like buying used underwear). What I don't understand is pushing so hard to move up to 225/50/16. I know there is a whole lot of choices is that size, but they may not all be the right choice. The question that needs to be answered by Bluecavi is: what are you looking for in a tire as far as performance, treadwear, etc... and how much are you willing to spend?
