rim offset / width / air question
Monday, January 23, 2006 3:55 PM
ok, the wheels i think i wanna get have me a little confused. ive read all the offset topics, and width, etc, but it dosent really answer what im curious about.

the wheels are 19x8.5, and i can get either a 20mm, 35mm, or 42mm offset. now they have a 2.5" lip. and im gonna be on air, hopefully tucking, and im curious what the best offset to get would be considering those factors. i wanna tuck, and not have to worry about clipping the rim/tire. i plan on rolling the fenders, but i want as much learance as i can get.

any help is appreciated...

20mm is out of the question. 35mm is do able but it will stick out. 42mm is your best bet. the higher the offset the closer in it brings the wheel. im running 18x7.5 w/ a 48mm offset

will the width affect that? thats what confused me. i figured the 42 would be best, but with the extra width, will that cause me to slap the fenders?

thanks

with an 8.5" rim width, you will HIT (not even rub, hit) the fenders at ANY offset you choose.

I would reccomond to go up to 8" wide. I got 19x7.5 and 35mm offset, they're tucking really nice!

I thought you would want some rims in 7.5" wide. I rolled my fenders all around but its not neccessarily to roll rear quarter lips but I had to because Im running on spacers on the rear.

im running 18X7.5s with 42mm offset and KDW2 225/40/18s and i cut my tires on the 1/4 panel when riding low...

it blows.

goodluck with finding the ride wheel combo for tucking!

ya, i think im gonna have to go 18's. i cant find a 19" wheel thats 19x7.5

i really wanted to go 19, but if i have to worry about cutting tires etc, i guess its just not worth it.

so 18x7.5 with less than 42mm offset would be good??

just now found of my old 18s were 18X7 with 42mm offset, that half inch made a huge difference when it came to riding low. same size tires as of now too. i never came close to the 1/4 panels with that setup.

if ur concerned with goin low, ied go 7 inches wide. u may have to sacrifice the huge lip idea for going low.. unless u plan to cut things out of the way.

get 20's, konig tuner2s (i believe thats what their called)

the Tuner2's are originally what i was gonna get, but i changed my mind about 10 times since, lol. now im kinda thinking the G-Racing rims. but they are 19x8...so idk

im also looking at these others

but these are 19x8 also

these i can get in 19x7.5 but with a 43 offset.

idk, its such a tough decision, and i dont want clipping issues when i get em in with the air

a 19x7.5 wheel with a 43 offset is a pretty damn good find. that's what you should be aiming for. regardless though, you WILL have to roll the rear fenders, and possibly the front ones too (and removal of the front liners).

^^^really, i thought the lower the offset, the further in the wheel well they would sit. ??

exactly. so you said that your worry was hitting the fender, so isn't that what you want?
