I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire with stock 15inch rims and stock 195/65/15 tires. the tires need replacing and i was wondering if i could go one size larger on the tire. I would like to put larger tires on it in hopes of making the car look bigger. so my question is how large of a tire could i put on stock rims and not have it rub or interfere? The way i have it figured, one size larger: 205/65/15 should work. tell me what you think. Thanxs!

A bigger tire would throw off your speedometer. Trust me, Just get bigger rims or just go with the regular stock sized tires.
even going one size wider? from 195s to 205 only adds .22 of an inch with the equation i have. Seems like it would throw it off a very minimal amount?

a 205 65 would not work however a 205 60 will be perftect
awesome! how much bigger would a 205/60 be?

those tires you first stated would work fine, dont let anyone fool you, trust me
I am now running a 205 65 winter tire and it works. no rub but it slows my speed by 2.0 %
Actually, you can get even wider tires and at the same time be closer to stock rolling radius. 215/60/15s should fit fine—it's the widest you can go, but I've had no problem with it on Fiero 6" wide rims originally intended for a 195 tire. Plus, whereas with a 205/60 tire the speedo would be off a little over 1%, a 215/60 tire will only put it off by .7%—little enough that the difference will be more or less negated by other factors like tire pressure, when it comes down to the dynamic radius (tires as they are while you're driving).
Generally, you can oversize tires by up to 20mm—the main thing is keeping the sidewall height the same, which 215/60s will do great.
Here are some 215/60s:

Good luck!
i fit 245's on my car and its lowered... still fits
who cares about the speedo lol

hey guys,
thanx for the help. i was looking for people who have actully tried putting larger tires on their j-bodies. i think 215/60's will work too i am going to be putting monroe quic struts on my pontiac. that should actully lift the car a tiny bit because the upper mounting bolts are higher than stock mounting kit.
