Does anyone have a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s on their Cavalier? I am thinking about putting a set of 205/65TR15’s on my 2000 LS 2.4. They look like nice tires and should (I hope) last a long time if you read through the reviews at Tirerack.com.

I have a set on my non-j-body. I would not classify them as high performance. They can handle some spirited driving, but I consider the sidewalls too soft.
I had Firestone Firehawk SS20 before these. Same tread pattern. I think they just renamed the tires. These also had a softer sidewall, and the tread would seem to wear quick if pushed.
I bought the SS20's due to the higher snow ratings for the 195-50-15 size. The INDY 500's still had a higher snow ratings when I was shopping around to replace the SS20's.
As for snow, I have only ran these during this summer. The INDY 500's might catch an early snow if I leave them on too long. The SS20's handled a few light snow days with no problem. If you are looking for a all season tire, that can handle an occational spirited drive, these are worth a look. Their Tirerack ratings are respectable. There might be better choices, depending on your size.
Thanks. I am also considering the BFG Traction T/A's. Have you ever used those before?
Well, I went ahead and ordered the Firehawks from Tirerack.com today. My old Sears branded Cooper tires have 70,000 miles on them now and the tread is down to the wearbars. I haven't had a new set of tires on this car for a while so I am looking forward to these new ones. They are slightly bigger than stock so should look pretty good. I hope they will ride as good as they look because the way I drive I'll probably get 70,000 miles out of them too.
I hope you like them. I am happy with mine. When I compared them to other tires on Tirerack in the 195-50-15 size, they actually have respectable ratings overall.
