I recently put on 18" X 7.5" wheels with 225/40zr18 tires and ever since I have noticed that the rims get extremely hot to the touch. So much so that after a small trip last night I got home and was rinsing off my car and as soon as the water hit the rims they began to steam. Is this normal after switching to larger wheels and tires? Is there anything I can do to stop this like getting better brake pads or something like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
you sure when you put water on them, it didnt hit the rotors or anything?
I know that water hitting the rotors in the front and the drums in the back caused most of the steam but the rims get extremely hot to the touch, like you can't touch them for more than a 4 or 5 seconds before you have to let off. It makes me nervous cause i have no experience with larger diameter rims. The brake pads are the stock ones if i were to change to like ceramic pads would that make a difference?
