I have a 2003 Cavalier that i put 17' rims on. The problem is my wheel studs are to long, so the key to put the tuner lug on doesent go in all the way and strips the lug. Anyone have this problem? If so what did you do? Did you cut your wheel studs a little bit so that the key fits in properly? Do they sell shorter wheel studs so that the key fits?
Or just be really carefull when taking on and off the wheel? Any opinions would help! Thanks in Advance,
Jamie
I had this same problem. I almost lost a wheel coming back from the paint shop. I had the rims installed there and they weren't able to tighten them down very well. Anyways, what I did was cut a little bit from the stud. There is about 1/4 inch smooth surface on the stud which i cut. Solved the problem. I used a hack saw.
Thanks, for your help i was thinkin about doing that i just dont want to mess anything up. It seems if you dont own a honda, you always have problems with aftermarket parts
Are the tuner lugs McGard SplineDrive, or something that needs a special lug key, or do they use a common socket?
Pry an obvious question, but I am curious about it.

I just got some gorilla lug nuts, and the rear don't fit good. The key sits less than 1/4 inch in the nut, so it is hard to torque them correctly. By just putting them on, I see the key starting to get rounded. I am calling the place I ordered them from today, and see if they will send me longer lug nuts. I am not going to cut my lugs.
Other people must have run into this trouble, hopefully they post.
Get the McGard Splinedrive nuts. They use a socket around the outside of the nut rather than a hex-key into the middle so you won't have this issue.
^^^Ditto on that WW.. I have no issue's what-so-ever...
