215/35/19 is the correct tire size for 19 inch rims on the j-bodies. The 40 series tire is a little big, it's an inch bigger in diameter than a factory tire . There shouldn't be any issues on the factory suspension assuming that you have the correct offset. There will be issues if you lower the car though. The only problem is that it might look hella weird but I personally would get the correct tires instead of the above listed ones.

I think that with lowered suspension and the 215/40/19 tires there will be problems with clearance.

This is because the tire that he has is one inch taller than the factory one. He might not be able to clear the suspension components with that kind of a tire. If a tire is too small, then who cares it just looks stupid. If the tire is too big like 215/40/19 then you might have serious problems like the wheel not even able to turn.

Oh.. yea.... the 215 40's is what he has, but they aren't the right ones... although they just came with the wheels, so he isn't goin to bother changin them right away.. I think its just a mis communication.

The 215 35's are correct.
