Nankang Tires - Stay away!
Sunday, July 17, 2005 6:48 PM
25,000 miles on them, 205/40/17's, the SIDEWALLS are actually separating from the tire! This is happening on 2 of my 4 tires.

Just an FYI to those out there who are looking for cheap tires, these came with my rims and definately need to get changed asap.

yall sure? ..... it may be caused by letting the tires get too slack and driving on them ( or even a defect). i know it happened to one of my toyo proxes. had to find out the hard way (since i only drive my cavy on the weekends) normally everytime before i drive it now i check to see if i have the proper pounds of pressure in them. normally what happens when you ride on them alittle slack over a period of time is the tire will split , around the top edge of the tire (near where the tread ends and where the sidewill begins. good luck with them

Wow, thats pretty damn bad. I don't think I've ever seen new tires do that before.

Almost looks like they are re-treads by the way the whole tread is separating from the sidewall.

They must be defective tires, because that kind of condition should never happen within the miles you have had them for.

Yea I have only had them on for I would say about 10-15k miles. I figured I would get a cheaper quality tire for the price, but I didn't think it would go that far...

I would not buy any tire other than a Yoko AVS series, Toyo, or Goodyear...that's why I always buy my rims separate from the wheels unless they come with those tires mentioned above

BTW that almost looks like the tire was rubbing when you hit a bump, and shaved off the sidewall.
