Got an 2004 cavalier with the sport handling package that comes with 205/55R16's. What is the widest tire I can SAFELY fit on those rims? 225's? Thx.

Stock... and loving every minute of it.
225's are way too wide....im thinking widest 215's....i have 215;s on my 7 inch rim.
Im not sure but i think ppl have put 225/50/16 tires on them with no problems.....
you can fit 225/50 on the stock rims

Most all the 225/50-R16's I've researched are designed to fit 6-8" rims. Typically the smaller rims will cause the trad surface to bow slightly, causing the center of the tread to wear quicker, similar to an over-inflated tire. The wider rims need to have their pressure monitored a little more closely to prevent the bead from rolling, but give the most traction. The mid range rims are the preferred rims, for bothe safty and even tread wear.
ive got 225/50/16's onmy LS sport wheels
i had them on my 95-99 Z24 wheels before
havent had any problemson either set of wheels
do 225/50s look too wide on stock wheels?
what about 215/50 16's

I got 215/50/16 Kumho Ecsta 712 on my stock '99 Z24 rims. They look fine, not too wide for the rim, and sidewall height is just a few mm lower than stock.
