225/50/17???
Wednesday, April 27, 2005 3:23 PM
I'm gettin tready to drop my car with sportlines, and my tires are about to run bald in a few months. I was wondering if 225/50/17s would throw off my speedometer any more than 45s. I read the FAQ, and this size isn't mentioned. I want a little more sidewall for the ride quality plus to close the wheel gap. thanx for any advice. i had the stock 16" wheels.

its not mentioned cause its the wrong size... so ofcourse it would throw it off... the correct sizes are posted.

if you are worried about ride quality, might wanna stay with 16;s and get tires for the 16;s

you can, but your speedo is gonna be off, acceleration slightly slower as well.

225/45 are the closest in most cases.

I'm runningg 225/45/17 and I highly doubt on sportlines cause the fender would
actully sit on the tire cause its wide

tires touching fenders is more an issue of offset of the wheel rather then tire size until you go to extreme sizes.

I have like a 37/38 offset ....normal rs limited 17's and falken225/45/17 with pro kit springs and mine sits right over my fenders with a two finger space between them

You can run 205/50/17 if you want, though I can't imagine why you'd want to. That's a good option for winter tires or something, but you'll perform better on 215/45 or 225/45 tires.

^^ yea 205 50 17 would be a alright option.. Although will take away from the look of a nice aftermarket wheel. Even with the stock 16's ride quality kinda sucks with the stock tires. If you want ride qaulity, get some 14" tires and rims... 195 70 14 will give you a nice cushion ride, but of course @!#$ty handling...

If you want to play around with tire and wheel sizing.... Go to 1010tires.com, and follow the link for the tire and wheel calculator.... You can use your stock tire size, and change the sizing around and it compares everything about the difference in size. The site will also warn you when you fall out of the 3% "safe" range for upsizing or downsizing...

Yup thats the exact size I'm going with too. If you want to see how it will affect your speedometer, WildWeasel has a pretty neat tool on his website.

perfect pick I wouldn't have got 205's cause your rim most likly would be wider than the tire
