Trying to pick tire size for my car.. right now i have the standard 195/60/15.. just getting 17s.. the profile doesn't matter,.. its just that where i live, the roads are awful in the city/highways where i drive everyday.. too many bumps/potholes that are crazy. i want to pick the tire that'll give me the best ride w/o rubbing. Would that be the 225/45/17? I've read the FAQ numerous times.. I'm just not good with numbers.
well the tires wont really determine rubbing as much as the offset of the wheel will. i have 225/45/17 right now and im fine.
ok so if i go with.. a pair of konig reasons that are 18X7.5 5-100 45 offset... with
225/35/18 .... will that be ok (i have an '04 fire) in terms of rubbing (speed would be fine i guess)
you shouldn't have a problem rubbing at ANY time...but if your roads are aweful, your ride is goign to me AWEFUL with 225/35/18's, and your taking the risk of denting the rim with that small of a tire(ESPECIALLY if your roads are bad) I recommend going with more tire height with the 225(wider)/40(more height). You should NOT have any problems with rubbing, they're REALLY close to the actual size of your stock height all together~
Eek... One more quick question.... Went 2 the place I'm buying the rims from..... I asked the guy if I needed the rims I wanted in 18x7. 5-100/112 or 18x7.5 5/114.... He didn't seem to sure.. Then got 2 calls in a row and somehow we both forgot about it and looking at the paper now, he ordered the 5/112.... Is that ok or will I need to call and get it changed?
YOU NEED 5X100 BOLT PATTERN. SO IF THE WHEELS ARE 5X100 & 5X112 ON THE SAME WHEEL(10 HOLE) YOU'LL BE FINE.
