I heard the bell housing on the tranny for 2.3 quad 4 was the same as a v6. Does any body know if a 2.3 will bolt up to a tranny out of a 3.1 car?
No, the bell housing for the 2.3 is the same as the 2.4.
A 3.1 ohv shares a bell housing pattern with the 2.2 ohv (aka non-eco) which is different than the 2.3/2.4
Teh n3wb^^ is correct. Use a 2.2 LN2 tranny.

idk where or who told you that but they were high on glue. the quad pattern is a bastard child... sharing it with absolutely nothing else.
I choose the technology built for land speed records... not the technology built to save on emissions and gas mileage.
Although the bolt pattern is not the same, the older Muncie 282 was used behind both the Quad 4 and the 2.8/3.1 with different gearsets. It is possible to swap the bellhousing over and get a different FD ratio. This may be where the confusion was.
