Been awhile since i've actually posted anythin on here so I searched first and found not a whole lot... but for whatever reason last night my 04 cav decided it didn't wanna shift into 2nd 4th or Reverse at all... The shifter is solid going up to 1st 3rd and 5th but mushy and wont grab the gears going down... I'm hoping its just a shift cable and I'm about to pull the console and start looking but I figured I'd throw out a question to see if anybody else has experienced this before. I'm hoping its just a loose connection cause I really dont feel like pulling my whole tranny if at all possible. Thank ya all!

I know this response is mad late - but it definitely sounds like shifter cable, since 2nd, 4th, and reverse are on the same run.

Just had this same problem but with 1st 3rd and 5th, and my back gears are starting to get the same way, I unhooked the cables and shifted it into all gears just fine with my hand on the linkage so it has to be the cables!
