i did an engine swap in my 96 sunfire and my linkage is not matching up with my shifter. its saying its in reverse when its actually between park and reverse. it seems the linkage is off and i am unsure why. there is a bracket holding the cable back beside the exhaust manifold, if that is bent would that be my issue here? I am not sure if it is actually bent but its the only thing I can think of. The engine is out of a 98 cavailer Z24. Im just trying to get the linkage back to proper order so i can drive it again lol. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Sounds like the park/neutral switch is slightly out of alignment. Should be an 8or 10mm bolt to adjust.
