So with almost 100k on the clock the transmission is starting to act up. The clutch bands in my slow car are externally adjustable, but what about j's? I'd like to fix it before it takes a real @!#$ and I know there are some knowledgeable folks on this board. Thanks

@!#$ a manual swap
You dont adjust the bands, you swap them out for new ones. Grab some blue plate clutch packs while your at it.

Alright. This may be something I attempt when I get home to Texas then, thanks for the info. No reason getting something else when I'm capable of fixing what's wrong, right?

cant do neutral drops in a 4t40e. the ecu wont allow you...
Its not "quite" a neutral drop, but:
rev up in neutral, take foot off the gas completely and shift into drive before the rpms come down. Put your foot back on the floor once youre in gear. Somehow I figured out that doing that worked basically the same. Back when I was young and stupid though.
It IS possible to hurt the trans this way, lol I know i did! (May that poor car rest in peace)
