I may not have a jbody, but I have the same trans. And I'm sure you guys have a lot more experience with these trannies than cobalt owners. I have the F23 I think M86? Anyway my car is an 08. In 08 cars with the F23 had a 3-4 grind issue. There was a TSB for it and it said the gear blocker rings needed to be replaced. So I brought it to the dealer to have it fixed. Worst decision I ever made. Ever since the dealer touched it, I now have no more reverse lock out (I have no idea to to fix that and I hope someone here knows how), they gave me a CEL and supposidly it was a pinched wire so now there's all exposed wires with no loom over it going across the tranny when they "fixed" it, I had to have them rebleed my clutch cause it was all air, (recieved car in horrible condition after that visit. They didn't put paper down and got grease on my rug, and left a half eaten subway sandwich on my windshield.) then lastly the main seal broke and leaked tranny fluid and they had to reseal it (no idea if they topped fluid off) I also noticed while inspecting that they didn't fully screw down one of the bolts that holds the tranny on the chassis, so had them screw that down when they fixed the seal. (Also looked like a different bolt than the other bolts wtf?) My tranny has been fine since then. Though it did make a loud bang sound like it popped out and back in the trans mount when I did a hard 1-2 shift at WOT. But I got a Powell Raceshop stage 2 trans mount, and it doesn't do that anymore. So basically my main concern is wtf did they do to my tranny that reverse lock wont work anymore??? There is absolutely no way I will bring it back for them to fix that, so I hope it's something simple that doesn't involve opening the tranny. I did many google searches and found nothing about an internal lock so hopefully it's something outside the tranny. I can't bring my car to another dealer, cause the only other ones (I live in Staten Island, NYC) are in Jersey and Brooklyn. Jersey I have absolutely no way home from, and Brooklyn is a hassle. Taking hour long buses and trains and stuff no thanks. Plus the Brooklyn one got bad reviews. Also with my dealer, every single time I went there was a problem. Not just for my tranny, just everything. So does anyone know how the reverse lock works on this car?
Getrag's reverse lockout is internal in the transmission.
Although I cant imagine how you found out it does not work...
Also there is no TSB on grinding 3-4 for the getrags...for any model year, including 08.
Not to mention that you have an F35 if you have an 08... not an F23

No no, I have the F23. The shifter is different on an F35 transmission, than the F23. I definitely have the F23. I found out reverse lock didn't work by playing around with the shifter one day when I was bored and waiting for someone. Car off of course lol. There is a TSB cause they wouldn't of fixed it without one. It said replace 3rd and 4th gear blocker rings. I wouldn't have known that if there wasn't a TSB. I don't remember where I found the TSB originally, but it's there some where lol. Plently of 08's with f23 have complained about this so I know it's not just me.
Thw F23 cobalts don't have a reverse lockout.

And I have access to all of GM;s service information and SSM's from 97 to 2011 model years... There is no TSB, There IS a TSB for gear rattle which requires the installation of wave springs behind the 3rd and 4th gear blocking rings, but not for a gear grind.
