2.2 shift cable

It came off today and seems that the cable end is broken and will not stay on. I've ordered a new one and was looking for any input on how much of a PITA this was going to be.

what year car? in my 96 i ended up routing it OVER the rear seat foot warmer duct (factory is run under.) and you can't even tell they're there.otherwise its extremely straightforward.

97 2.2.

So will I only have to remove the center console and pull the carpet back? I'll probably pull the passenger seat to give myself more room.

if you don't want to cut the old cables, you may have to disassemble the duct work, which i didn't do.

Replaced it today in about 2 hours. I cut the old cable out but ended up pulling the duct apart when installing the new one. It helped to have the passenger seat out and I cut the carpet in front of the shifter so I only had to pull up the inside corner of the passenger carpet. Before I pulled the old cable out, I tied a wire to it so getting the new one routed in the engine compartment was very easy.

The Crapalier is back on the road. $41 to fill it up today @ $2.96 per gallon! I remember when I could fill my Tahoe for $30!!
