So my grandmas 97 2.2 automatic won't go into reverse, you can select it and it sounds like it is in gear but when you press the gas it just revs and doesn't move. also when in drive it feels like its not getting all the power it takes forever too get up to speed. kinda like something is sticking.

go and have a fluid exchange and filter and have them check it out the trans might have finally got too tired and just gave up

your transmission may be gone, I dont believe there is a dipstick on that trans. if not then remove the fill cap and smell it, if its burnt then time for a trans rebuild.
