Hey everyone, I have searched and found very little, and wanted some advice before I make any decisions. I can get a 2004 Sunfire Automatic as a parts car for my eco swap very cheap, and it has a working engine, auto tranny, and all the parts I need for the engine swap ( radiator, wiring harness, etc. ). I was thinking about using the auto since I would be able to use the engine harness and ECU and swap everything out of the donor car and swap it into my 2002 Z24 5 speed.
I was wondering if anyone had experience or knew if I could just drill out the 5 speed mount, and the Auto mount from the donor car and weld it back into place, if the auto would still work. I would have all parts for the swap, and from searching it seems like the Mount is the only issue making this a pain, but if it can be swapped out, that would be great news.
Thanks for your advice in advance. I hope this works and it would save me a lot of money/work.

You will have to drill out a bunch of welds on the auto mount and cut out both manual mounts for clearance. Honestly if you already have a 5 speed car just get an eco 5 speed or just bellhousing and keep it stick. I am running my 5 speed swap on an auto computer and harness with no problems at all. Auto to manual swap=win, manual to auto swap not so much.
I have an eco bell housing, and a good 2.4 tranny, but I was wanting to use the wiring out of the auto car. So if this actually does work. I would just do it that way. I will have to take a look into that.
Thanks I appreciate the quick response, and the good news

No problem. Oh and I may be interested in the ld9 stuff out of the car if you want to get rid of it. I could use a spare harness and computer for my relocation, whats wrong with the motor, spun bearing?
the old build motor was sold, and I got the car with no motor, but everything was there for one, I have a spare motor, but the crank was bad, so I decided to do a swap. I will know what I have extra once I get the swap done, I dont want to sell anything until its done in case there is an issue and I have to go back to it. but Im sure ill have all the extra parts once I get everything swapped and running.
I am going to try to get an Eco Clutch and Flywheel so so I can use my LD9 5sp. tranny, I already have an eco bell housing. So as long as I can use it with an Auto Computer and Harness, I will be set.
