ok so after dealing with some issue of the tranny not wanting to change gears and some troubleshooting.....it appears the shift linkage cable has come off on the transmission side. my question is does that merely pop back on and hold does it need to be press fitted back on ???? im not sure how much sense im making but hopfully someone will figure it out lol

The cable pops on, but I can tell you that I have recently had a issue with my 97 2.2 3 speed, and Winstel had his on his auto 4 spd come off. The part that fits tight will wear over time. For Chris and I we need new cables.

You should be able to pop it back on if not probably need a new cable.

yea after checking it out....the cream plastic part inside of the cable is broken out so i zip tie'd for now but a new cable is needed so i have one ordered through a friend
