WILL AN ECOTEC BOLT UP TO A TRANSMISSION THAT ORIGINALLY HAD A 2.2

hey i have a friend that is going to buy a 1997 sunfire with a blown 2.2 and he was wondering if an ecotec out of a coblat will bolt up to his 1997 automatic transmission. if it is possible what all needs to be done to make it work. thanks

No...he will need to buy an Eco trans to go with the motor.

no...

transmission mounts in a J changed in 2000
the 5 speed on a 2000 + 2.4 and 02+ eco is the same

the 2.2/2200/LN2 has a completely different bell housing...

The 2002 2.4 and Eco also have different bell housings, even though the mounts are the same.

as well as the donor car the eco came out of. you have to swap EVERYTHING. i mean EVERYTHING to get an eco in a 99 and below model.

but you can't use an eco out of a cobalt either
