I am putting together a j-body for the 24 hours of lemons
www.24hoursoflemons.com
using an 01 cavi with the 2.2L. It came from the factory with a 3speed auto.
i want to put a 5 speed manual in the car. See that there are a couple different ones.
can i use any of them? do i need a specific one?
I also have clutch/flywheel, pedal, slave, shifter and linkages on my list of parts. Is there anything I am missing?
thanks
Mac
add mounts, axles, ecu, and wiring harness to the list. you can use either the getrag that would have come in the 2.2, or an isuzu that would have been in a 95-99 car.

you need a getrag 5speed, get the pcm from that car or have GM reflash your current PCM its cheaper to get the one from the car and like rich said you need mounts both front and back i would get the poly incerts insead of using the factory ones, other then that the list looks gtg make sure you buy fuilds of course from what i hear getrag takes automatic tranny fluid
that auto trans fluid is debatable according to GM the 95-99 use the syncromesh fluid and the 00-05s use manual transmission and transfer case fluid
thinks its 1.7L or 1.8 can't remember
part number 88861801 that might be a candian part numbe ri know some fluids have different numbers but i have been running hta tin my trans and had no issues and thats what the computer at GM and the service DVD i have say to use, how different is it from ATF i have no clue but use this stuff and leave ATF for the automatics.
Automatic transmission fluid = Automatic Transmissions
Manual Transmission Fluid = Manual Transmission
kinda explains itself
